ABOUT KUKLJICA

Kukljica is picturesque tourist and fishing place on Ugljan isle near Zadar.

In the village there are several grocery shops, bakery, butcher shop, fish market, market with fruits and vegetables. Also there is a post office.

From the both sides of island there are stony and sand beaches (Velika Sabuša, mala Sabuša, Kostanj) with crystal clear sea. Because they are shallow sand beaches are suitable for small children to swim and play. Grownups can have fun by playing various sea games. Mala Sabuša sand beach is a nudist beach.

As a part of tourist settlement Zelena punta there is arranged beach that has pine forest above it with pleasant shade. There are mini golf fields, table tennis, volley ball, tennis, football and basketball courts. Also you can rent sandolins and pedalins.

Fish dish lovers can enjoy in culinary specialties. In Zelena punta there is a restaurant with a terrace that has beautiful view of sea. In village there are also few konobas in which you can enjoy fish specialties like in other dishes. Young can find entertainment in largest disco club on the island and it’s placed in Zelena punta.

Kukljica is called ”Door to the Park of nature Telaščica and National park Kornati” because it’s placed on the very south part of Ugljan island where is Ždrelac passage, that is main passage on the way to Kornati. Every day from Kukljica there are organized boat trips to National park Kornati so the sea lovers can enjoy all Kornati beauty. Kukljica has a small port with arranged pears (water, electricity), so it can be starting port for nautical tourists for Kornati visiting.

One of more interesting things in Kukljica is restored St. Jeronim church from 13^th century in Kostanj bay that is also beautiful sand beach. Also you can find local St. Paul’s church from 17^th century. Unique village attraction is traditional procession in honor of Our Lady of the Snow which is occurring every summer on 5^th August since the year 1514. On that day, after the mass in Gospa Snježna church in Ždrelac passage, Madonna is transferred by ship with an escort of other boats to the Kukljica.
