Updated -2006- _________________________________________ King Britt Lazy to look up what he really is, but his CD is in my player right now, and it is downlow groovy! Amp Fiddler Just heard it the other day in Jols Hollands music show. Still didn't get the CD, but I will! Funky!!! Izraely New Breed This neo gospel band kicks some serious butt! Gospel so exciting you will throw your hands in the air and shout: Praise the Lord! Oscar Peterson It is amazing what he can do with his 10 fingers, even sometimes wonder if he had a bit more?!? Wow! _________________________________________ Lizz Wright New young jazz hope that blew away jazz fans with her debut album SALT. D'Angelo Funny that I never mentioned this guy. Black music wrapped in one nice soul package. He even plays everything by himself. Good man! Mozart Have you ever heard of this guy? Need I say more? :) Candy Dulfer This saxophone player from Holland has a live CD that is soooo funky that godfather James can be real proud. Barbara Dennerlein Who sayz girls can't play hammond? And this one does it very groovy actually Eva Cassidy Her mellow voice can make you cry if you're sensitive enough. Definitely one to listen with your girl/boy on romantic couch huggings. Michel Camilo Piano player with amazing technique. Mostly playes only with percussion player, so he playes bass lines, chord progressions and chords all at once. Must find a DVD or something... Tamara Obrovac I have to mention her here, she is an ethno jazz singer from Croatia, and is IMHO listened too little. Production is great, you can say that it can eat out all other cheap sounding Croatian crap. Music is great too! Jill Scott Wow! Wow! This girl kicks some serious ass. If you like Erykah Badu, check Jill out! Her album Experience: Jill Scott 826+ is double CD, of which one is live cd, and other is studio cd. Live performance is awesome. Don't miss it! Rachelle Ferrell This is top notch vocal, amazing singing supplied with as well amazing music and production. I reccomend her album Individuality. Jannah Denise Nice jazz vocal, uptempo and cheerful. Ken Clark (organ trio) Funky organ trio drives funky groove. Paolo Mendonça A friend of mine burned his new CD - Different Phases, and I was hit with heavy rock-funk, awesome! Hard, groovy, dancable, get this one! Randy Brecker Jazzy funky trumpet player, who made big step in music and production with his new album 34th N lex. For all of you who like hiphop sound to jazz. Much more interesting than his brother Michael, but their album Return of the Brecker brothers is the one to funk your ass off. Booster I just bought this CD, which came out as a new france hope in hip jazz. Some nice beats, little bit commercial, but don't let that stop you! Nice one for Blue Note records. Victor Wooten This is one amazing bass player! He is doing everything you thought it's impossible on bass. On top of that, groovy funk jazz! Maybe it's time to think again of your favourite bass player. Joshua Redman He plays jazz. On the saxophone. Sometimes he drifts into some abstract jazz, but does it listenably :) His album Freedom In The Groove, is one of my favourite acoustic jazz albums ever. So groovy, with tipical melodies from Joshua. Soulive Great young band who is playing some tight funkass hip hop grooves, with jazz as fundamentals. Basic setup is drums, guitars and hammond organ, with bass played on hammond! One of my favourites. Their album 'Doin' Something' is a must have! Roy Hargrove Cool trumpet player, who was playing some not easy listening jazz till the last album where he invited Erykah Badu, Me'shell N'degeocello and rest of the crew which made his last album 'Hard Groove' jazzy, groovy, and coool! This guy has a future :) Marcus Miller If U didn't listen to his live album 'Live and more' you missed some serious bass killings. He is the chosen one. Miles Davis said it, why not you listen! Christian McBride Bass and chello player. Groovy jazz, plays with everybody! Even Sting. His Philadelphia Experiment is also something to have a go go. John Scofield Speaking of 'A Go Go', which is very funky album of this magnificant one of a kind guitar player. His style is the story for itself. He playes from clean acoustic jazz to experimental ethno drum&bass. Weird guy. But funky weird. Herbie Hancock Famous jazz pianist who makes electro sounds good. Played a lot of classic jazz, but lately electro jazz is his style. David Sanborn Give him a saxophone, and he's happy. Maker of some serious funky grooved with the best names in music business. His album 'Upfront' is the first to have. Dave Weckl Some say that he is the tightest drum player. Sometimes really sounds like a computer. Has his own drum sound, which is perfectly crisp and clear, recorded mostly in marble wall studio that he owns. 'Heads Up'! Quincy Jones This guy is THE producer. His recordings always sound like from 20 years in the future. For his albums, he invites over 100 famous musicians to sing and play for him. James Brown I know that you know of him, but I just couldn't not say his name. He is the one who made groove sounds groovy. He is the first, grandaddy of funk. All the modern funk beats have his signature sticked to it. If you didn't listen to James Brown yet, you don't have to be on this page anymore. Shame on you! Tower of Power Pure soul that makes you wanna dance your ass off. Happy funky band that is old as hell, and there is at least 12 of them on the stage at a time. Their live concert is a shame not to have. Moloko This crazy band has some drugs hidden in the studio, cuz this music is tripped! But always great songs, top notch production, and the girl has certain voice that I can't get enough of. Safe investment! Steely Dan Another band which style I cannot describe. Funky-jazzy-rock weird harmonies and melodies. They won 5 grammys for their album 'Two against the nature' which is first for you to find! THey also released new album couple of months ago. Same old high quality music! Natalie Cole Daughter of the legend Nat King Cole. Not famous because of her father, but because of her beautiful voice that she has. She is best in swing and easy listening jazz with her big band which sounds beautiful on her album 'Take a look'. Casandra Wilson One more female vocal that is worth of sacrifying hours to listen to. 'Blue moon daughter' is an album which impressed me. Especially suble use of accordion in jazz, beautiful! John Pizzarelli Son of guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli. Plays guitar and sings jazz standards. Cool feeling, swingy, for long winter nights beside fireplace. Michel Petrucianni He was a dwarf, and played piano like a giant. Nostalgic fusion jazz style is his best. Diana Krall Canadian blonde, playing piano and singing in a cool jazz tone. Nice for relaxing! Fourplay This is one of the best contemporary jazz bands. Since they kicked out Lee Ritenour, they don't sound so cool, but you can use them in home activities suggested by their name. Mel Torme If this guy with his big band doesn't make you shake your ass, nobody will. Swing is the wild style, warm suggestion for all the crazy happy moments. |
