   Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Q: What does it mean if program is portable?
A: You don't have to install it. You can save it to any folder on your local disk or removable media such as USB memory and can run from it. Eventually, you can create a desktop shortcut. If you run a program from USB memory and then disconnect USB memory before closing a program, crashing can happen.

Q: A program gives an error about a missing file 'msvbvm60.dll'?
A: My software requires Visual Basic 6 SP6 runtime in order to run it. Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 usually ships with that runtime. You can download the runtime from Microsoft's web site, if your operating system doesn't have it.

Q: So called viruses were detected in a file?
A: I have never written a virus and never will. It is possible that some poor antivirus programs generate false positives, confused by UPX. Some of my portable files were compressed with UPX, which is a free in-place high compression tool. In the newer versions of my files I don't use UPX any more. That's why some of my exe and dll files have a significantlly increased filesize.

Q: Sometimes BTM or Yamb were buggy when playing over a network?
A: I spent many time testing those games, but I can't be sure there are no small bugs. Also there can be bugs that don't depend on me, but system or network. Previous versions had some bugs so it is essential that all of the network players have the latest version of a game. It is not recommended using other Internet applications (e.g. Skype) or downloading something, while playing BTM or Yamb online.

Q: Why should I donate?
A: I have spent over 3000 working hours for programming my freeware. If you make donation of just $1 you can support my software, further developing if needed, and also maintaining a Game Server.
Network playing via direct access with BTM Pro or Yap Yamb
Users of BTM or Yamb could have an issue about making connections when playing over a network. Basic thing is that you have to configure firewalls and other filters to not to block connections. There is a big difference when playing between LAN and Internet.
When playing over company or home LAN, or dial-up (very slow) usually there shouldn't have been any of issues. Commonly you can forget playing over Internet in a company. Home users can have an issue making these games running as TCP servers over Internet. To make easier this, BTM and Yamb use UPnP port mapping, I look to improve my source code for this. If you can't make BTM or Yamb acting as a TCP server, maybe other players whom you play with can do that, there is a need for only one player that can do that.

Q: How can I configure my router?
A: By accessing to router's application from any web browser, you have to know LAN internal address of a router.

Q: How can I enable UPnP on my router?
A: In order UPnP port mapping to work, your router has to be UPnP capable and enabled. If it is not UPnP enabled by default you can enable it through router's application. Be aware that enabling UPnP can be a security risk, if you are not advanced computer user, better skip that.

Q: How to configure port forwarding on a router?
A: You can do that if UPnP port mapping fails. That is done only once on a router for a particular game. You should also open that port for listening in that game.

Q: How to manually open a port for listening in BTM or Yamb?
A: When you tick 'This computer is a server', untick 'Automatic' and enter a port number.

Q: How to find external IP address if BTM or Yamb fails to find?
A: Web sites such as whatismyip.com can let you know which is your external IP address. If you are behind a router, also router's application should tell you that. For some routers external IP address is changed dinamically and automatically from time to time.

Q: Can I use third party programs such as Hamachi?
A: That's up to you and your risks. I don't recommend that. Hamachi can make a virtual LAN from computers on Internet.

Q: I need more information about all of these?
A: Those are only basic directions. If you want more, search on Google or consult your ISP.
About Game Server, BTM Pro and Yap Yamb
Games BTM Pro and Yap Yamb use HTTP Game Server, on which you can connect without logging in, playing private games with your friends or public games with players only from your country.
Direct network playing via IP addresses is much faster then Game Server. Main advantage of Game Server are public games, and playing is much easier to configure, since there are only outgoing requests which you allow on firewall. Sometimes it is necessary for me to deny access to Game Server from older versions of these games because of synchronization, bugs or improvements. Then you should download the newest version of game. Sometimes it is possible for Game Server not to work properly which can depend also on web hosting.
For my Game Server I use only free web hosting services, which are limited. If you were getting in a game the message 'Game Server is closed' that ment that I had closed the Game Server temporary or for long or forever, for all users.
   History of my free software
My first home computer Amstrad (Schneider, more exactly) I bought in year 1986.
Amstrad CPC 6128 was 8-bit computer, with Z-80 CPU, 128KB of RAM, FDD 2x180KB, without HDD, 32 colors and the highest resolution of 640x200 pixels with 2 colors. With the lowest 160x200 resolution it was capable to display only 16 colors at once.
In about year 1988 I developed Italian card game Briscola versus computer on Amstrad, probably the first Briscola (ScreenShot) for computers in the world. I had to draw all the cards manually with very low image resolution. In 1989 I developed my first chess (ScreenShot) playing game.

This web site is available to Internet since about 2003. I estimate that from 2003 to March, 2011 were over 600 000 downloads all over the Internet. Directly from my homepage were approximately 150 000 downloads from July, 2006 to March, 2011; and also I estimate more than 50 000 downloads before that period when I didn't have web stat. Of course, many users download more than one version of same program, many of them delete a program, there are many downloads from editors of download portals, and there are other ways to distribute software (PC magazines, mail, CDs, etc.).
My PC software were listed on many sites including www.download.com, ex tech.msn.com, www.freewarefiles.com, www.softpedia.com, logitheque.msn.fr, www.puntocr.it; Croatian www.download.hr, www.skidajmo.com. Also were published in PC magazines such as PCUtilities, PC User (Australia), PC World (Poland), Download.BG (Bulgaria), Croatian Bug, Vidi, PC Play.
